Triathlon competition returned last weekend to one of the most popular and beautiful locations in the country with the holding of TriAthy in Athy, Co Kildare. The event last took place in 2019.
According to Triathlonireland.com “a massive 3,500 participants registered for two days of swim-bike-run across four separate distances in the biggest triathlon held in Ireland in a number of years”.
Wexford’s Ciara Wilson, competing in round 2 of the Triathlon National Series race, run over Olympic distance, placed 3rd despite ‘bike mechanical’ issues. Ciara: ‘I couldn’t change through some gears. That lost me time on the bike section. A solid swim and run, however, got me on the podium.’
The race was won by Shannon Kelly with Kim Hickey in 2nd place.
