Time to hit the road!

Championship athletics resumes in Wexford this weekend with the first of the Mr Oil Wexford Athletics road racing events. The men’s and women’s novice races take place Friday evening (June 18th) in Enniscorthy. Hosted by Slaney Olympic, the races will be run on a looped course with the start line on the Old Dublin Road. The women’s race is at 7pm with the men off at 8pm.

There are a number of safety procedures in place.

Numbers in each event are restricted to 100. Athletes must pre-register through their club secretaries. Closing date is 5pm, Thursday, June 17th. Strictly no entries on the day. All athletes must be current (ie paid-up!) members of Wexford Athletics / Athletics Ireland. Each club secretary will collect race numbers on race day and distribute to athletes.

Each athlete competing must complete in advance, and return to the club secretary, a Covid19 Clearance Form.

Competitors to report to start area 5 minutes before the gun. Masks must be worn; they may be removed a 100 metres into the race.

No men to arrive in the start area until 7.30pm or when the women have finished and left the area. All warm up and cool down runs to be done away from the races. Athletes should stay in their ‘club pod’.

No spectators.
