Successful conclusion to Adamstown AC’s Spring League

Adamstown AC held the second of two nights of its Spring League for children on the evening of Friday, April 28th. As with the first outing the venue was the Enniscorthy Sports Hub. 202 athletes from eleven different clubs enjoyed glorious sunshine as they took part in part 2 of this unique ‘sporthalls athletics’ inspired event. There were children from Adamstown, Taghmon, Bree, SBR, DMP, St Killian’s, Enniscorthy Croghan, United Striders, St Paul’s and Craanford. The programme consisted of events one definitely will not at find at your run-of-the-mill T&F meet: speed bounce, standing long jump and under/over obstacle relay. Novelty events they may be but, make no mistake, they still call for strength, agility, speed and, in the latter case, teamwork. All were in evidence last Friday, tempered with a healthy dose of devil-may-care camaraderie and fun. Regional Development Officer Colin Byrne was there, happy to muck in with the many volunteers from participating clubs. The event was wrapped up in less than an hour and 202 tired but happy children headed off, clad in their snazzy pink Spring League t-shirts.
