Wexford’s track & field season opens this evening with the Mr Oil Wexford Jumps & Throws Evening at DMP AC’s grounds in Drinagh. Registration from 6pm, competition commences 6.30pm.
On Sunday (May 7), Enniscorthy Sports Hub hosts the first of two days underage track & field action, the 2nd day being the following Sunday (May 14).
Athletes may compete in their own age group only, relay being the exception as they move up a year. (At least two competing members of a relay team must be of the correct age, EXCEPT u17/u18/u19 where all athletes may move up an age.)
Remember to come prepared – raincoats (and sun lotion!), food, drinks.
Bring extra supplies of patience and park your expectations at the gate! The focus here is on making this a fun occasion. If children perform well we won’t make a big deal of it; likewise if they are off the pace.
All athletes to be affiliated to AAI. Four helpers from each club to meet at the track at 10.30am. We are grateful to all those who devote time to making these events run so smoothly. In return, we ask that you be nice to them. Respect the stewards, stay off the in-field and if someone looks like they need a break … come to their rescue!
Note that the walks commence Sunday, May 14 at 10.45am. The Sunday programme also includes triple jump.
