Dannan Long of Enniscorthy AC competes at this week’s European Under 20 Championships in Jerusalem. He is a member of the Irish 4 x 100 metres relay team. Round 1 of the relay takes place on Thursday morning at 7.55am Irish time (live streaming at https://allathletics.tv).
Ireland, with a party of 32 athletes, is one of 44 countries competing at the championships. The Irish athletes have already spent a number of days in Jerusalem acclimatising to the conditions and fine-tuning.
It is a great honour for Dannan to be selected on the team and his family and club are justifiably proud of him. The selection comes on the back of what has already been a real purple patch for the popular young Enniscorthy man with a number of national titles and personal bests. Dannan and his team mates, Nkemjika Onwumereh, Max O’Reilly and Seán Stratton, qualified for the European Championships at a meet in Mannheim, Germany in June.
