Children’s Team Games & National U12/U13 Field Events & Juvenile Relays

There was barely room to put a shot or launch a turbo javelin at Tullamore Harriers Stadium last Saturday, such was the turnout for the AAI Children’s Team Games. A very busy programme was made even busier by the inclusion of National U12 and U13 field events and relays. This was a really enjoyable and fun day of competition with the relays and the pairs events really getting the crowd going.

Bree’s Ava Wilson cleared 1.48 metres in under 12 high jump to win by 10 cm, in the process establishing a new Championship Best Performance (CBP). She was also 4th in long jump with a new personal best of 4.39 metres. Her clubmate Sarah O’Brien jumped out of her skin in under 13 high jump, clearing 1.52 metres to win a silver medal. It took a CBP of 1.55 metres to beat her.

Alan Power of Kilmore AC was joint 5th in under 12 high jump with 1.30 metres. He was 7th in long jump (3.85m). Alan also competed in turbo javelin.

In U9 boys 60 metres sprint pairs, the United striders duo of Darragh Kavanagh and Tom O’Brien were 5th and 8th in their respective heats, placing them 4th overall. In the U10 boys event, Enniscorthy’s Matthew Bowe and Conor Larkin were 2nd and 4th in their heats, 5th overall. In under 10 long jump pairs, Conor, joined this time by Donnacha Maher, made it onto the podium in the bronze medal position.
