Saidhbhe Byrne of Coláiste Bhríde Carnew and Michael Kent, Good Counsel New Ross, won bronze medals at the National Schools Combined Events which were held in Athlone on Saturday last. Saidhbhe, competing in the intermediate category, had a total of 3272 points having completed her five events. She got off to a good start placing second in her heat of the hurdles. She went on to jump 1.55 metres in the high jump, throw 11.50m in the shot put and leap out to 4.95m in the long jump.  She finished off with a respectable 2.33 minutes in the 800m.
