Bree Boys make podium at Leinster Relays

The Leinster Juvenile 4×100 metres Relay Championships took place in Leixlip on Sunday last. The Wexford club with the most teams competing was, by some distance, Bree AC.

The club’s under 13 girls team of Sarah O’Brien, Ruth Hassey, Hazel Breen, Ava Wilson, Rosanna McCauley and Hannah Carr won their heat and were 5th in the final.

Some of the same athletes also made the under 14 relay team, namely Sarah, Ruth and Hazel. They were joined by Lea Bolger, Riona Kehoe and Maeve Hennebry. The girls came 2nd in heat two. Enniscorthy’s Alex Bowe, Neasa Long, Faye McDonnell and Aoife O’Connor were third in the next heat, just missing out on a place in the final. Bree went on to place 7th in a competitive final.

Bree’s boys under 13 team placed 5th in the final. The team: Aidan Wall, Billy Doyle, Shane Laffan, Fred Devereux and Luke Jordan. Aidan and Billy were also listed on the under 14 team with Jayden Kenny, PJ Breen, Cillian Hughes and Sam Devereux. The boys were 2nd in their heat and an excellent 3rd in the final.

The Croghan under 15 girls team of Ava Wolohan, Erin Byrne, Ruby Gallagher O’Reilly, Isobel O’Flaherty, Sian Byrne and Chloe Wafer placed 6th in their heat.

The Bree under 11 team of Eoghan Ennis, Bill Furlong, Thomas Ryan, Charlie Hughes, Sean Doyle and Aodhán O’Dowd were 5th in their heat, and 8th in the final.

The club’s under 10 girls also placed 5th in their heat but did not progress to the final. The team: Áine Breen, Sarah Jordan, Sadie Devereux, Ella Rose Daly and Anna Power.

The Bree boys under 10 team of Faolán Joyce, Aaron O’Shea, Conor Galavan, Ruairí Byrne and Harry Hughes just missed out on a place in the final, coming 4th in their heat.

The Bree under 12 team of Fred Devereux, Luke Jordan, Eoghan Ennis, Bill Furlong, Thomas Ryan and Charlie Hughes were 5th in heat one and 8th in the final.
