Athletics Wexford is the governing body for Athletics in Co. Wexford. It is affiliated to the Athletics Association of Ireland and also to Athletics Leinster. Athletics Wexford was founded in 2002 when BLE and NACA amalgamated as the Athletics Association of Ireland. Athletics in Wexford is administered by a Board of elected volunteer members who work in tandem with the 17 affiliated clubs in the county. The County Board of Athletics Wexford has responsibility for the organisation of official competitions within the county and the promotion of athletics, throughout the county, at Juvenile, Junior, Senior and Masters levels.
All Officers of the board are elected at the AGM which takes place in January of each year.
At the AGM a Development Committee and an Athlete of the Month committee are elected and also Leinster Representatives.
The Board also appoints the County Child Protection Officer.
The Board organises all Championship Competitions in Track and Field, Road and Cross Country.
The Bord has responsibility for entering teams in provincial and national competitions.
While the board has established its own bye-laws, the board must apply all rules and regulations as set out by the National body – the Athletics Association of Ireland.
The Board in conjunction with the development committee promotes ongoing coaching for our athletes.
It also runs courses for the further education of coaches in the county.

Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment
Athletics Ireland Child Safety Statement
Athletics Wexford has adopted the Athletics Ireland Child Safeguarding Statement. It is very important that each club Chairperson and Child Officer complete the child safeguard risk assessment and sign and date the Athletics Ireland Child Safeguarding Statement. This statement should be displayed at all training sessions. If the club does not have a clubhouse at which to display the statement it can be laminated and attached to a removable post. Please contact County Child Officer Catherine Ronan should you have any queries.
View the signed copy of the statement here.
