Adamstown AC last night held the first of two nights of its Spring League at the Enniscorthy Sports Hub. Following a very heavy downpour just as proceedings were getting underway, the skies cleared to leave a gorgeous mid April evening. The 200+ children that showed up had a load of fun … running, (standing) long-jumping, chest pushing (which involves propelling a large ball as far away as possible), turbo-javelining, shot putting and, as the evening darkened and the temperature dropped, shivering! The Sportshall-inspired nature of the programme ensured that the emphasis was more on fun that on winning. We need more of that. Well done Adamstown AC, well done to all the volunteers who ensured the events were run off super fast and especially well done to all the boys and girls who took part. Part 2 happens in two weeks. If word gets out about the success of the first evening, expect numbers to at least double!
