Wexford cream rises to the top at Leinster Schools T&F

The Leinster Schools T&F Championships were held over two days last week (18th and 21st) at Morton Stadium, Santry. A big number of Wexford athletes were competing and a good percentage of those have qualified for the Irish Life Health All Ireland Championships in Tullamore on June 4th. Top three in each event go through. It should be noted that the standard at Leinster level is very high and making the podium is no easy task.

Michael Kent, Good Counsel, New Ross followed up on his recent fine form across a range of events at the county championships with wins in Junior Boys triple jump (12.48m) and pole vault (3.60m).

And another athlete who, if he were a horse, you would back every time, is Enniscorthy’s Dannan Long a pupil at FCJ Bunclody. He won the Inter Boys high jump (1.86m) and 200m (22.81).

Lily Ryan, a student at Our Lady of Lourdes, New Ross and a member of St Joseph’s AC, won both the minor 1100 metres (3.37.05 mins) and the 1200 metres walk (6.05.31 mins).
