The second day of the South Leinster Schools T&F was held last Thursday in a wet and blustery Waterford. The poor weather did not, however, get in the way of Wexford athletes adding to the successes of the previous week.
As with the first day it was a case of just two to qualify for the Leinsters from shorter races and three from middle distance, jumps and throws.
David McDonald of CBS Wexford looked leaner and stronger than ever as he blitzed his way to victory in the Senior Boys 100m and 200m. Blathnaid Fogarthy of CBS Enniscorthy won the Intermediate 200m with Suzie Brennan of Presentation Wexford in 2nd place. Hannah Roche Kelly, St. Marys New Ross, also made it through to the Inter 200m final but did not medal.
Nathan Murphy, CBS Wexford, showed he is recovered from the nasty injury which kept him out of action for much of last year with a good 3rd in U16 Shot Putt. And, just in case anyone was still in doubt as to his form, he delivered an excellent Silver medal-winning run in the Mile.
Darra Casey won the Inter 100m Hurdles with Shane O’Neill, CBS Wexford, in 3rd.

Aisling Kelly of Loreto Wexford was 2nd, Blathnaid Fogarty St Marys 3rd, Suzie Brennan, Presentation Wexford, 4th and April Keeling, Loreto Wexford, 5th.

Conor Doyle, CBS Enniscorthy, won a Bronze in Junior 800m.
Liam Turner, St Peters Wexford, had to endure the wind and rain for the Senior 5,000. Running comfortably in 3rd place for much of the race he finished with a fast last lap to take the Silver.
